The exhibition "Teresa Jakubowska. Cut out from Life" is a selection of works from the artist's own collection and from the collection of the Museum of Caricature. It consists of black and white graphic works, mainly linocuts, created from the 1950s to the early 2000s. Visitors will see, among other things, compositions inspired by the everyday life of the communist Poland. These are satirical commentaries on the coarse reality, seen through the prism of personal experience of the female artist. The exhibition includes examples of works resulting from Jakubowska's artistic journeys - "souvenirs from Polish and foreign cities", decorative views of Warsaw, Cracow, Paris, Rome or Florence. A different part of the exhibition in terms of content and form are the works that are part of the "symbolic-reflective" trend, including works created since Teresa Jakubowska moved to Warsaw in the second half of the 1960s. Among them is the composition "Miejsce na górze" ("Place on the Mountain") from 1967, for which the author received the Bronze Pin - an award granted by the editors of the "Szpilki" weekly, as well as "Majenie idola" and "Przewracanie idola" ("Fall of the Idol") (diptych from 1972) - performances with a timeless message and satirical meaning. The exhibition is complemented by - exhibited for the first time - graphic matrices, revealing the work of a graphic artist.
