FRANCISZEK KOSTRZEWSKI
(1826 - 1911)

Born in Warsaw. Painter, illustrator, drawing artist and caricaturist. Studied at the Warsaw School of Fine Art at Feliks Piwarski. For over 50 years contributed to Warsaw magazines among others: Tygodnik Ilustroway, Kłosy, Biesiada Literacka, Mucha, Kolce. Very good at portraying warsaw street characters, was also a reporter of current social and cultural events. Considered by many as the first real Polish caricaturist.
